Trust Hound

Your feed's loyal watchdog.

Trust Hound reads along while you scroll Facebook, X, YouTube and more. When a post or video makes a claim that doesn't hold up, it puts a badge on it, with the sources so you can see for yourself.

Health agencies say there's no evidence lemon water cures the flu. It can help you stay hydrated, but flu usually lasts several days.

In the real extension, links to each source appear here.

How it sniffs things out

You scroll the way you always do. Trust Hound only speaks up when something deserves a closer look.

  1. It notices what you stop on

Posts you scroll right past are ignored. When you pause on one, Trust Hound reads the text. For videos it also reads the captions and any words on screen, and listens to what's said, right on your computer.

  2. It sorts what it finds

Opinions, jokes and politics are left alone. Claims about health, money, scams and safety get checked right away. Everything else gets a badge you can tap.

  3. It checks and shows its work

Trust Hound searches reliable sources and puts a badge on the post. Tap the badge for a plain-English explanation and links to every source.

What the badges mean

A badge is a nudge to look closer, not the final word. Every one comes with its sources.

❌ FalseReliable sources clearly say otherwise.
⚠️ MisleadingPartly true, but missing context that changes the meaning, or exaggerated.
🟑 MixedSome claims in the post hold up and some don't.
⚠️ Unproven claimThe only support is the seller's own marketing or numbers. Common in ads.
βœ… Checks outReliable sources back it up.
❓ Can't verifyToo new or too little evidence to say. Trust Hound won't guess.
πŸ” Claim foundA claim on a lower-stakes topic, like a fun science fact. Tap it if you want it checked.
πŸ‘€ Personal claimSomething only the poster can prove, like "I make $1,000 a week." Trust Hound tells you if the post is also selling something.

It checks the ads, too

Ads are where a lot of the worst claims live: miracle products, fake celebrity endorsements, get-rich schemes. Trust Hound always checks posts and videos marked Sponsored or Ad, tags them clearly, and points out how the ad is trying to sell to you, like fake urgency or testimonials nobody can verify.

What it leaves alone

Trust Hound is here to catch hoaxes and scams, not to argue with you.

Politics

Posts about elections, politicians, parties and hot-button issues are skipped by default. No badge, no check.

Opinions and jokes

Your uncle's hot take, memes and satire aren't claims of fact, so they don't get a badge.

Your private stuff

No account, no tracking, no ads. Trust Hound doesn't collect your browsing or sell anything about you.

Pay only for what it checks

Trust Hound runs on Claude, an AI from Anthropic. You connect your own Claude account, so you pay Anthropic directly for the checks you use, with nothing added on top.

For most people that's a few cents to about a dollar a day.

  • Daily spending cap so it can never run up a surprise bill
  • Each post is checked once, even if you see it again
  • Tap-to-check mode if you'd rather choose what gets checked
